Visit the Exhibition Differently Towards an ecological approach to perception: take control of the cards you have in your hand!
THU 13 – FRI 14 – SAT 15 FEBRUARY
By Lucie Conjard, PhD student EHESS, CIFRE at Octo Technology
In the summer of 2018, the Atelier Arts Sciences created the exhibition entitled “Attention Intelligences!” for the Maif Social Club, based on an original idea by Lucie Conjard. At the centre of the exhibition: Going Through the Mirror is a device that enables us to explore our ways of being attentive. The device enables the spectator to look at themselves looking at the works and to discover their own way of concentrating and paying attention.
Expérimenta 2020. It is with the title “Attention Intelligences!” that Lucie Conjard proposes a new series of exercises to observe yourselves in the process of seeing the works at the exhibition. A simple and sensitive way of developing your concentration, perception, exploration abilities and your self-knowledge… The beginning of an ecological approach to perception helps us forge our critical mind.
Take control of the cards you have in your hand!
Small exercise in self-observation
We can be attentive to the way we are attentive. Prior to visiting the exhibition, what state do we find ourselves in? Will it impact our perception of the works we see?
BATTLE FOR THE LIMITES NEURAL SPACE
Small exercise in self-manipulation
We are invited to question our spontaneous reactions to the works. Why do we react the way we do?
INCREASING OUR FACULTY TO NOTICE
Small exercise in stuttering
What did we not see and why?
Small exercise in self-alteration
We are invited to step into another spectator’s shoes. What other reactions to the works could we have had?
Small exercise in suspension
Let’s let it decant…
